HAITI EDUCATION PROJECT

Haiti has 15,200 schools primary schools, 90% of which are “non-public” and run by the community, faith-based organizations, or NGOs. Kindergarten is offered by primary schools and is the most attended level in all schools. The children attend kindergarten for two years, at the ages of 3 and 4, and then move on to elementary school, where they remain for another six years. Classes are taught in Haitian until the last years, when children begin to learn French to prepare for secondary education. Enrollment in primary education has reached 80%, but less than 30% of children complete the statutory six years.

THE PROJECT

200 children in the region of Lespinasse and Boicede in the city of Puerto Principe (Haiti) were assisted to study in a primary school linked to the local church with an offer of US$ 10 (R$ 55) per child per month .

-With Christian principles.

1st SCHOOL IN LESPINASSE - PORT-AU-PRINCE - HAITI

TEAM:
- 5 Teachers
- 1 Local Supervisor
- 1 Servant - General Services

FOOD:
- Daily (Monday to Friday) - Breakfast (Milk and bread)
- Lunch (Rice, beans and some mix)

ACTIVITIES
- Basic Curriculum / Social and Cultural Activities /
- Activities with the Local Church with Cultural Biblical Teaching

NEEDS
- Basic School Reform / School Supplies / Hygiene Material / Equipment and Furniture / Increase Service Capacity / Implement a Continuing Education System.

2nd SCHOOL IN BOICEDE - PORT-AU-PRINCE - HAITI

TEAM:
- 6 teachers
- 1 Local Supervisor
- 1 Servant - General Services

FOOD:
- Weekly (Once a week only)

ACTIVITIES
- Basic Curriculum / Social and Cultural Activities /
- Activities with the Local Church with Cultural Biblical Teaching (monthly)

NEEDS
- Implement daily food / Difficulties to pay staff / Basic school renovation / School supplies / Hygiene material / Equipment and furniture / Increase Service Capacity / Implement a Continuing Education System.

3rd SCHOOL IN BELLE FONTAINE - PORT-AU-PRINCE – HAITI

(Occasional attended school - Waiting to effectively enter the project)

STUDENTS:
- 45 students

ACTIVITIES
- Basic Curriculum / Social and Cultural Activities / Activities with the Local Church with Cultural Biblical Teaching (monthly)

NEEDS
- Implement Daily Meals / Difficulties in Paying Staff / Basic School Reform / School Supplies / Hygiene Material / Equipment and Furniture / Increase Service Capacity / Implement a Continuing Education System.

CHALLENGES

Send at least US$ 10 (R$ 55) / child / month ($2,000/month)

To continue attending both schools.

Include Belle's school Fontaine in Haiti Education Project.

Implement an education system based on Christian principles.

Renovate existing schools - Provide a minimum standard of comfort.
